If you think you would be interested in becoming a student-driving
instructor, we could help! From time to
time we accept applications from individuals that have the desire to help
today’s students become tomorrow’s responsible drivers.
If
you are at least 21 years of age, have held a valid driving license for minimum
of 5 years, and want to commit at least 40 hours of your time for training,
then you are on your way.
All
instructors are certified to be able teach students in the classroom and in
vehicle.
This
is a process of a minimum of 40 hours training.
Step one observe a series of classroom instruction, step two observe a
BTW (in vehicle) training session. Step
three administration. Step 4 teach a classroom under the guidance of a
certified instructor. Step 5 conduct a BTW (in vehicle) training session. Step 6 more administration. Step 7 – GO TO BMV take a written test for
instructors and then BTW with an examiner. Step 8, complete all documentation
and submit to State of Ohio. STEP 9 –
wait for State of Ohio, Dept of Public Safety approval and certification.
Training
requires independent study of the Ohio Driver Training Curriculum and Ohio
Laws.
During
the training period, you will be required to have your doctor fill out a form
saying you are physically fit; a background check with the Bureau of Criminal
Investigations will need to be submitted. Training usually takes about a month
to complete, but can be done sooner depending on how motivated you are.
